I find it so easy to hate myself and my body. It’s miserable but easy! And I know I’m not alone with this because I hear the echo of self hate all around me. A few years ago I found myself in a counselors office desperate to learn how to love my body and myself. I was drowning in self-hate and was so sensitive to others’ perceptions of me. It’s been an exhausting and long process that I’m still working at every day but it’s worth it on the days I look in the mirror and think I look beautiful, when I eat more ice cream than I probably should but don’t feel the condemnation of shame, and when someone doesn’t like me or include me but I know it’s not an attack on who I am. ⠀
Love takes strength and endurance but oh my God the peace it brings is so worth it! ⠀
